You will need a Tree Works Permit to prune more than 15 per cent of the tree canopy, or remove a tree, on private property if:
You are not required to obtain a permit to prune a tree if you only intend to prune less than 15 per cent. However, the council still recommends that you use a qualified arborist and keep before and after photos of the tree.
A mature tree is a tree on private property that is taller than 8 metres and has a trunk circumference greater than 40cm.
If you're unsure if your tree is considered mature, we can provide a free on-site evaluation and assist with your tree pruning.
If you want to remove a tree from your site, you will need to apply for a Tree Works permit. The council will then assess your tree and the reason for your request to ensure it is in line with the council's tree policies and strategies.
If it's approved, you will be issued a permit which will need to be kept onsite while works are undertaken.
